This Nike Air Humara SE has the hardy construction of an outdoor boot and the retro style of a vintage lifestyle shoe, making it a highly desirable prospect. Its nickname, Future Motion, reflects its fashion-forward look, which begins underfoot on the light brown outsole. The feature’s forefoot and heel are supported by angular pods slanted towards the back of the shoe to provide reliable traction throughout, while light grey effects highlight various parts of its rubber surface. A series of diamond shapes are scattered around the rear part of the forefoot, the midfoot hosts a Nike trail logo that reveals the shoe’s rugged abilities, and a swoosh sits beside Air text beneath the heel. Additional spiky tread structures can be found on the toe, heel and sides of the outsole, ensuring that the wearer has access to all-round grip.

Attached to the top of this thick outsole is an even thicker midsole whose textile-wrapped exterior comes in an off-white hue known as Sail. Meanwhile, its interior delivers high-quality comfort via encapsulated Air in the heel and a responsive cushion of springy Zoom Air in the forefoot. Broad ridges have then been set into the flanks of the entire sole unit, giving it a certain dynamism. Resting atop this powerful base is an upper made from a range of premium materials in a selection of beautiful colours, from Sail to Light Orewood Brown to a shade of grey known as Photon Dust. The underlayer, visible through parts of the forefoot, sidewalls and heel, is made of a cream-coloured canvas for flexible comfort. Luxurious suede panels have been laid over the top of this, forming a large mudguard around the toe, with two more arcing down the flanks and another curving around the heel.

An off-white leather panel has been slotted into the forefoot just behind the mudguard, a grey swoosh intricately embroidered into its centre. This overlay extends backwards towards the bottom of the tongue, where it attaches to a subtly striped lace loop. More eyelets have been created along the sides of the tongue by the shoe’s characteristic webbed lacing system. This consists of several pieces of textile overlapping along the flanks as they reach up from the midsole, pass behind the mudguard and the other suede panels on the top of each sidewall, and loop back on themselves, before travelling back down to the midsole. Lines of stitching delineate where they go behind the suede overlays, adding another stylish touch to the sneaker. More striped fabric decorates the centre of the tongue, producing extra loops to secure the laces all the way to the top. Here, it passes underneath an oval-shaped suede patch with a light brown embroidered edge and a grey swoosh sewn into its centre. Emerging from the other side, it forms into a pull tab at the top of the tongue.

Another looped tab sticks out above the top of the heel, making it really easy to put the shoe on. In the middle of the heel, it disappears behind a patch that resembles the one on the tongue in all but its lack of a brown outline, before splitting into two diagonal bands as it moves down towards the midsole. An off-white leather panel provides a gently contrasting backing to this heel structure, and a grey swoosh sewn into the middle of the heel panel visually draws everything together.

Softly padded inner walls bring snug comfort around the ankles, their off-white colouration contrasting against the pale blue of the insole. Intriguing details have been printed onto each sockliner in black. The left foot carries information like the concept behind the shoe: “Future_Motion”, where it was designed: “Beaverton”, and its intended use: “Sport / Lifestyle”. Meanwhile, the right foot leaves space for the owner to personalise their own pair with the “Date Acquired” and “Date Retired”, along with the activities undertaken in the shoe. Black swooshes have been printed beside these pieces of text to thematically unite the two differing insoles. Back on the outer, the grey Air lettering embroidered into the lateral heel and the Baroque Brown leather swooshes on the flanks forge compellingly rich tonal variations, thus completing this elegant design in style.
