Nike Zoom Vomero 5

This unique rendition of the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 features a different look to the traditional model, with custom elements that give a nod to the brand’s early history. The bouncy Cushlon foam sole contrasts the appealing shade of Pale Vanilla with cool bands of Aquarius Blue. A much deeper navy hue highlights elements of the outsole and accents parts of the upper, including the mini-swoosh woven into the heel. Misty grey suede lies atop a smooth underlayer of Light Bone leather, and chestnut brown distinguishes the heel. Some of the suede panelling has a serrated edge that evokes heritage Nike running shoes, and the flanks host swooping swooshes made of black leather. These enlarged logos also reference Nike silhouettes of the 1970s, while another fascinating detail is the black-and-white image of Bill Bowerman spread across both insoles. It depicts the brand’s illustrious co-founder in his workshop, tinkering with a shoe and surrounded by prototypes. Printed atop this picture is a special “Design JP” logo with a verdant green swoosh that celebrates the interwoven histories of the Nike brand and Japanese sneaker culture.
