Nike Zoom Vomero 5 SE

This Nike Zoom Vomero 5 SE brings together some of the brand’s most high-tech features with a captivating colour scheme to provide a sneaker that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. Its foundation is a sturdy outsole with a waffle grip pattern that is largely Dark Stucco on the forefoot and heel, and pale blue on the toe and through the midfoot, with additional off-white hints in between. BRS 1000 text has been embossed below the heel to indicate the use of the carbon rubber material, which is layered over high-wear areas such as this to deliver extra protection there. Meanwhile, the midsole is marked with its own text that shows off the fact it contains a blend of soft Cushlon foam and Zoom Air cushioning to supply the highest levels of comfort to the wearer. White laces tie up through a suede eyestay in the same tan hue, and panels of Light Pumice bars wrap up over each flank to overlay it through the middle. A thinner mesh can be seen behind these sidewall coverings, while their edges are overlaid by more Light Orewood Brown suede with cream-coloured strips curving up them. Moving further back, the collar features another band of mesh above a Light Pumice leather overlay and a solid heel counter decorated with moulded triangular structures that serve to support and protect the heel. Some of these shapes have been opened up to make the shoe even more breathable.

Soft Light Orewood Brown fabric lines the inner, and a pleasant shade of teal coats the insole. Printed onto each sockliner is a black swoosh and intriguing text that includes information like the concept behind the shoe – “Future Motion” – where it was designed – “Beaverton” – the season and year it was released – “SP24” – and the intended use – “Sport”. All of this appears on the left foot, while the right has space for the owner to add things like the “Date Acquired” and the “Activity” undertaken in it. These details suggest both the connection this Vomero 5 silhouette has to the past and its forward-thinking design.

Back on the outer, a Dark Stucco textile strip runs up the centre of the tongue to hold the laces in place, stopping just before the patch at its peak. Sewn into the Light Orewood Brown surface of this label is pale blue Nike and the Dark Stucco Vomero 5 text. The sneaker’s sidewalls are then adorned with light-coloured swooshes tinted blue and outlined in the contrasting Baroque Brown. Bands have been embossed onto either side of the forefoot and heel in this same tone, along with a swoosh at the back of the foot. All of the elements that exhibit this rich shade of brown are made of reflective material that glows powerfully when illuminated in low light conditions, thus rounding out this complex design with a captivating flourish.
