Jordan 1 Retro High OG x Spider-Man

This Jordan 1 Retro High OG x Spider-Man is modelled after the pair worn by Miles Morales in the animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It has been nicknamed Origin Story in reference to the film being about Miles’ beginnings as he becomes the popular superhero. Its colour scheme takes its cues from the classic Chicago design but with a few changes to make it more reflective of Spider-Man’s famous outfit. To begin with, the outsole is made of translucent rubber with a delicate blue tinge running through it. It retains the familiar grip formations of circular indentations in the forefoot and lugs looping around the heel, thus providing the same high-quality traction as other AJ1s. Above this lies a plain white midsole filled with a combination of foam and Air cushioning for soft support underfoot.

Moving to the upper, the colour combination matches that seen on other Chicago sneakers, with white acting as the base layer through the slightly textured surface of the midfoot and toe box, and Gym Red making up the overlays. These latter panels form the forefoot mudguard, the pair of overlays behind it, the eyestay, the heel counter and the collar wrap, all of them marked with a series of reflective dots, giving them an intriguing appearance, especially when light shines upon them.

Over the top of the foot, lines of perforations decorate the toe box, allowing gentle ventilation across the forefoot, and black laces thread through the eyelets that rise up behind the toe. These criss-cross over a puffy white tongue with a Photo Blue label sewn into its peak. Gym Red Nike Air text has been woven through this label, creating a strong tonal blend that is repeated on the Photo Blue insole, whose branding is also Gym Red.

The protective, high-cut collar is black both inside and out, the latter part being partially obscured by the red overlay that enwraps it. Black Air Jordan Wings have been stamped into its lateral side, before a pair of black leather swooshes emerges from a small piece of Gym Red leather in the centre of the heel to complete the sneaker with a bold contrast in colour as they stretch down its flanks.
