Nike Dunk High

This graceful Nike Dunk High incorporates only black and white tones from top to toe, putting it amongst the iconic Panda colourways. Thanks to its inversion of the typical design, which gives the sneaker an alternative appearance, it has earned the nickname Reverse Panda. In fact, the majority of the outer is covered in shades of white, beginning with the entire sole unit. This provides the wearer with both comfort and traction, the first achieved through the soft foam padding in the midsole, the second the dynamic grip patterns across the roughly textured surface of the outsole.

Meanwhile, the upper has been constructed with smooth leather panels of two slightly differing white hues. The underlayer visible on the toe box, the midfoot panels and the top part of the heel feature an off-white with a creamy tinge running through it, while the overlays are a purer Summit White. These form the forefoot mudguard, which connects at the top to the eyestay. This last panel shares its penultimate two eyelets on each side of the high-cut collar with the rear overlay, which itself curves down towards the midfoot at its front and arcs around the heel at the back.

Placed on the midfoot panels and passing backwards across the rear overlay are two black leather swooshes. Being the only dark-coloured features on the shoe’s sidewalls, they stand out with ease, creating a bold look. At the back of the shoe, finely stitched details can be found, firstly in a seam that runs down the centre of the heel, and again above it in the four parallel lines of stitching that bend from one side of the heel to the other. A little further up is a white leather pull tab with its own delicate rectangle of thread.

Additional black highlights appear over the top of the foot as the laces come in this dark tone. Behind them, the canvas tongue is the same off-white hue as the upper, and a white patch has been sewn onto its top edge. This label contains a set of Nike branding in black, and spreading away from it is an off-white inner lining whose padded walls serve to protect the ankle. Lastly, the classic black and white tones of the Panda finish things off on the insole, with the latter tone providing the background for the former to strongly illuminate the Nike text and swoosh upon its surface.
