Vomero Plus
Nike’s Vomero series has been helping runners through their daily exercise routines since 2006, and in the mid-2020s, it was one of three models chosen for a new road running lineup. As part of this comprehensive sporting collection, its particular focus is on maximum cushioning, with the Vomero Plus delivering mid-level support for comfortable training.
The Nike Vomero Plus has a lightweight engineered mesh upper that provides breathability and flexibility around the foot. Minimal no-sew overlays support the toe and undulating raised bands reinforce the sides, with another thin panel forming the eyestay. A pull tab adorns the heel, while plush padding bolsters the collar and tongue for maximum comfort and ease of use. Reflective elements illuminate the forefoot and heel, and an integrated lace loop on the tongue contributes to a reliably secure fit.
A huge 45mm stack of ZoomX foam supports the Vomero Plus. Inspired by earlier Vomeros and the Invincible 3 – another max-cushioned running shoe – this cutting-edge midsole material is the brand’s most lightweight and responsive to date, offering incredible comfort and as much as 85% energy return over many miles of running. Its rockered shape encourages forward momentum and propels the runner effortlessly forwards, while the hard-wearing rubber outsole incorporates Waffle-style grip pads for solid traction from heel to toe. Meanwhile, its wide base supports the elevated slab of soft foam, thus ensuring a stable footing.
Smooth, curvaceous lines define the aesthetic of the Nike Vomero Plus, giving it a dynamic look. The chunky midsole features flowing contours that echo the embossed bands rippling across the upper, evoking a striking feeling of speed. ZoomX branding decorates the midsole, with the words “Tuned For Maximum Cushioning” printed on the medial side in a compelling announcement of the shoe’s purpose. Swoosh logos adorn the outer, with the largest attached to the lateral sidewall, a smaller one on the medial flank and mini ones on the toe, pull tab and upper eyelets. Another shows up subtly on the medial forefoot, and a Vomero Plus tongue patch completes the elegant branding details.
Before the release of the Vomero Plus in August 2025, Nike gave pairs to some of its athletes to showcase its max-cushioning capabilities. Marathoner Conner Mantz and 1500-metre runner Jess Hull, who won silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics, both enjoyed the level of support they received from its large midsole, suggesting that it helps preserve their legs at different paces over varied terrain by cushioning impacts and offering a smooth, responsive step. It was also trialled by members of the non-professional running group Project Dreamweaver, whose insights were used to optimise the Plus for a broad range of athletes.
The Vomero Plus represents a key part of Nike’s new running system, with its highly supportive midsole providing substantial cushioning and comfort. Alongside its stylishly streamlined upper and dependable outsole, this makes the Nike Vomero Plus an outstanding running shoe, both for daily training and gentle recovery runs.
